Klein Creative Communications' goodie bags score slam dunk at iStar All-Star Charity ShootOut
Klein Creative helped iStar thank celebrities like NBA star Ron Artest with special goodie bags for supporting the Robin Hood Foundation and Human Rights First at the iStar All-Star Charity ShootOut. One extra bag was auctioned on eBay and added $530 to the charity totals.
New York, NY November 1, 2004 - Top gift bag producers Klein Creative Communications scored a slam dunk with its Slamdunk Swag Bags for the celebrity participants at the iStar All-Star Charity ShootOut on June 14th at Madison Square Garden. The 11 specially tailored gift bags presented to celebs including Indiana Pacers star Ron Artest (2003 - 2004 NBA Defensive Player of the Year), Chris Heinz (stepson of presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry), Christina Vidal (star of Nickelodeons Taina), and up-and-coming singer Camille Smith (touring this summer with Lauryn Hill), featured almost $2,000 worth of merchandise to thank each player for helping iStar raise money for the Robin Hood Foundation and Human Rights First. One extra special bag was later auctioned by Klein Creative on eBay, and the $530 high bid was donated to both outstanding non-profits.
Artest, Heinz and others helped draw a crowd of more than 1,000 iStar clients, family and friends to Madison Square Garden for the charity event, which raised $114,000 (and counting) for both worthy charities. Bruce Beck, sportscaster for WNBC-TV, provided play-by-play commentary on the courtside action, which included three-point shooting contests, free throw competitions, and a team Pick-a-Shot shootout where competitors shot from various locations worth up to a $1,000 donation for each shot made. In addition, this years shootout included two contestants hitting the big money $25,000 Charity SuperShot, a half court shot that quickly added to the nights total donation tally. In between competitions, audience members were entertained by singer Camille Smith's a capella version of the national anthem, the acrobatic and power-dunking skills of the Basketball Extreme Team, the dribbling and passing artistry of the famous Harlem Wizards, and the high-stepping Sheepshead Bay High School cheerleaders.
"We are so pleased that our clients would donate their products to help raise funds for such worthy charities as the Robin Hood Foundation and Human Rights First," said Stephanie Jo Klein, founder and president of Klein Creative. After 10 days of auctioning the last goodie bag on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16091&item=5502133290&rd=1), Klein Creative received a high bid of $530 from a generous eBay donor and divided 100% of the proceeds equally between both charities. The Robin Hood Foundation (www.robinhood.org) is a group known for fighting poverty in New York City by applying investment principles to philanthropy and by partnering with the best community-based programs to save lives and change fates, and Human Rights First (www.humanrights.org) is an international human rights organization that works to create a secure and humane world by advancing justice, human dignity and respect for the rule of law.
